Software Testing Engineer

We are currently seeking a Software Testing Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. The level three Software Testing Engineer position requires a deep knowledge of software testing methodologies and of the system development life cycle. This knowledge and experience will be used to design, implement, and execute test plans, scenarios, and scripts for ensuring MITS software products meets the highest standards.

• Ability to setup and configure Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems
• Ability to setup and configure database systems such as MS SQL server, Oracle, MySql, PostgreSQL
• Application testing experience using Java, HTML, Javascript, Win32, XML and AJAX technologies in a N-Tiered architected systems
• Familiarity with HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet protocols
• Experience with at least one programming language
• Familiarity with database design and architecture which may include relational databases (MS SQL server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL), though MultiValue-type databases would be preferred
• Capacity to work under minimum supervision
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team with programming staff and systems documentation analysts on resolving software defects
• Talent for establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with individuals and groups both inside and outside the department and organization

• Plan, develop and execute integration testing, performance testing, functional testing, client acceptance testing, user-interface testing and production support testing of multiple software products
• Participation in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews to provide technical expertise
• Measure system performance on multi-user platforms by benchmarking test scenarios and provide improvement recommendations
• Work with technical staff, consultants, and end users to ensure software releases, technical reference manuals and user guides are error-free and consistent
• Review existing computer programs and recommend refinements, improvements and enhancements
• Provide production support of software products by investigating and recreating reported defects
• Assist in development and implementation of QA standards and continual process improvement activities
• Adhere to company confidentiality policy
• Other duties may be assigned as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred
• Minimum of 4-6 years of testing experience in a software development environment
• Proven track record of being Test Lead on multiple projects
• Ability to create test plan documents, test cases and results reporting
• Ability and desire to learn products
• Expertise in UI design and usability
• Deep understanding of processes and technologies
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level
• Experience designing and overseeing performance tests
• Some programming or scripting experience with integration of databases strongly preferred
• Experience with developing, maintaining and/or execution of automation
• Ability to research and implement QA test tools as necessary
