UniObjects for Java Enhances Security and Performance in MITS Report
MITS has added UniObjects for Java (UOJ) to its MITS Report system to
provide better security for customers at sites that are not allowed to
have an open Telnet connection to the server. After evaluating Secure
Shell (SSH) and UOJ, MITS chose the latter as it offers both the added
security and better performance.
Because UOJ supports encryption, privacy is established in the
communication between the MITS Report application server and the
MultiValue database. As an added benefit, UOJ provides better
performance compared to Telnet. The new system is currently in
development and will be released in MITS Report 1.1.

New Year's Greeting from MITS
In looking back on 2006, MITS saw major growth and change with an
increased focus on its customers, more trips to tradeshows, conferences,
and customer sites by key team members, and new learning opportunities
delivered through webinars, events, and biweekly newsletters. In 2006
MITS also expanded our support department, added to our software
development and testing staff, and welcomed new members to our sales
team.

MITS Unveils the Eclipse Inventory Analysis Hypercube for MITS Discover
For its MITS Discover product, MITS develops Hypercubes for arranging
aggregate transaction totals along dimensions like customer, product,
and date. The MITS Discover Inventory Analysis Hypercube for Eclipse
organizes user data and gives individuals within an organization the
inventory and product sales information they need to do their jobs. Data
is structured in a format optimized for monitoring key inventory metrics
and improving users' ability to make timely tactical and strategic
decisions.
If you are an Eclipse customer and would like more information on the
Inventory Analysis Hypercube, please contact MITS sales representative
Wayne Warren directly, or send us email at sales@mits.com.
Be Sure to Get All the Speed Enhancements Built into MITS Discover 6.0.1
The MITS.LOAD Hypercube transformation program was added to MITS
Discover in version 6.0.1 as a potentially faster alternative to
MITS.MAKER.BUILD. In many cases, this program will build large
Hypercubes much faster than MITS.MAKER.BUILD.
MITS recently discovered a problem in the software that causes
unnecessary slowness when the MITS.LOAD program is run with a Hypercube
that is configured to use an Indexed Date Routine. This issue will be
fixed in the next release of MITS Discover, but in the meantime the
problem can be effectively addressed by modifying your Indexed Date
Routine so that it returns only record IDs that have not already been
added to the Hypercube. The best way to do this is to perform an NSELECT
against the MITS.FLAGS_ file prior to returning the list of
transactions for a particular day to the calling program.
If you have any questions about this issue or the proposed workaround,
please contact your MITS Discover support provider or send us email at
support@mits.com.
